Living and Breathing Breathe Carolina

If you enjoy Electronic/Dance music, then I have a band for you: BREATHE CAROLINA.

If there was ever just one band that deserved the TURN IT UP TO TEN award, that band would be Breathe Carolina.

Breathe Carolina began in 2007 with vocalists David Schmitt and Kyle Even. They started Breathe Carolina on Garage Band just for fun and put up a Myspace and their fanbase grew rapidly.

In November of 2007, Breathe Carolina came out with their first EP, which they called "Gossip". All of the EP's songs were added to their first full-length album, "It's Classy, Not Classic" except for one, "Don't Forget: Lock The Doors". This song is their first: the song that was around before they even knew their band was going to become something. They performed this song for Houston on their EZ Bronz tour, not expecting anyone to know the song and were surprised to hear almost everyone singing along. Breathe Carolina has its diehard fans, the ones who have been there since the beginning, and those fans are the ones that are going to be there with them until the very, very end.

Breathe Carolina's full-length album, "It's Classy, Not Classic", was released in 2008 and featured songs such as "Show Me Yours", "Lovely" and "That's Classy". This album is very straight-to-the-point with what they want to say ("Did you really think i meant every word that i said? When we're lying in your bed head to head and i can't get enough?" from Classified). The album also gives the listeners a little gift: the song "Lovely". "Lovely" is an amazing representation of what Breathe Carolina brings to the table in regards to music ("Oh no, my heart is getting heavy, was I was forward? I kinda had the feeling that it's over, but know I know that I'm crazy (I think that I'm going nowhere) So scream loud and look at me way down, I know that you're afraid, I'll hold you close and never, ever let you go...scenery is nothing more than poetry").

If you go to the music section at any Best Buy or Target, you will find Breathe Carolina's 2009 album, "Hello Fascination", on the shelves. "Hello Fascination" is less pure dance than their other two releases. Songs from this album have been featured on shows like "Jay Leno"(The song "Hello Fascination" was used for the commercial) and The City ("I'm The Type Of Person To Take It Personal" was used in the season finale.)

In the last three years, Breathe Carolina has gained a fanbase larger than they probably ever expected. No matter how many fans venues have to turn away at the door and regarless of if the show is sold out or not, Kyle always makes it a point to come out to the merch tables. Sometimes right after the show is over and sometimes at midnight, but he always does. "OH MAN!" he said March 12, 2010, after learning that was my sixth time seeing the band, "I have to remember you! Thank you so much! This means so much to us!" Breathe Carolina fans will come and go with time, but i know that one thing is true: I will always be one of the number one fans (NOT the #1 groupie)!

Breathe Carolina is a band that I hope goes very, very far because of their performing and musical abilities. They have progressed so much since 2007, and they can only get better from here.
